Uganda’s only female athlete gold medalist Dorcus Inzikuru is a proud graduate as you read this.
Inzikuru is amongst hundreds of students who graduated today from Ndejje University.
The celebrated female athlete graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration from Ndejje University and is in a celebratory mood.
Inzikuru, a track and field athlete, won the inaugural world title in women’s 3000m steeplechase at the World Championships, in Helsinki, Finland, as well as the first Commonwealth title in the event in 2005, which made her very famous.
Inzikuru grew up in Vurra, in Arua District. She is daughter of an Anglican priest. Her parents were both talented athletes, but did not compete internationally.
Inzikurru was married to an accountant, Martin Bosco Acidri, a former sprinter, and together they have a daughter, Emmanuela Munguci, although they separated in February 2012 and he later died in October 2013.
