Several Ugandans who are ardent fans of the Miss Uganda pageant are worried that the incumbent queen Leah Kagasa is likely continue reigning even in 2018.
This is because there are currently no signs to indicate that the organisers of the pageant have any intentions of organizing the Miss Uganda contest for 2017/2018.
Brenda Nanyonjo, who is the Miss Uganda organizer, is currently in the UK, where she has been holed up for almost a year now.
The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF), which partnered with Nanyonjo or took over the role to organize Miss Uganda from her hasn’t shown any signs of organizing this year’s pageant.
The UPDF are very busy with other state duties and Gen. Slaim Saleh, who is usually behind the Miss Uganda project, is yet to reveal what is next.
This has however left many models wondering what is bound to become of Miss Uganda.
Sanyu Patricia Love, one of the models who is planning to contest for the crown this year said that;
“By this time auditions for models would have been completed and there would have been several adverts on media forums encouraging Ugandans to vote for miss Uganda.”
She added that; “However, all the organisers of the pageant are silent. We haven’t heard from Nanyonjo or Gen. Saleh and we wonder what is going on.
Leah Kagasa, a student of Marketing at Makerere Business School (MUBS) is current Miss Uganda 2016/17.
She took the crown from Zahara Muhammad Nakiyaga, who was the 2015/2016 queen.
