Popular Pentecostal pastor Prophet Elvis Mbonye was this morning given a messianic welcome at Entebbe International airport by hundreds of his worshippers
Mbonye, of Elvis Mbonye Ministries, had gone on a two-week pastoral tour in Angola, where he met several fellow pastors and born again Christians.
However, when he returned this morning, he found security at the airport tightened, as Aviation police tried to restrain his believers from flying at him.
Ivan Kaweesa, one of Mbonye’s believers who was at the airport said that; “The people came in big numbers to express love for their prophet. Many shouted out his name while others removed their clothes and threw them on the tarmac for prophet Mbonye to step as he walked to his waiting car.”
Mbonye was driven from the airport to Kampala in a convoy of several Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) which included Range Rovers, Land Cruisers, among others.
He was followed with several other vehicles which were filled by his believers, who kept waving his photos and posters with Mbonye’s pictures and inscriptions ‘We Love Our Prophet’, while others sang praises to his name.
Mbonye’s convoy, escorting vehicles and blaring supports paralyzed traffic along Entebbe Road for several hours as they staged processions along the Road.
