Initially, the legal fraternity was dominated by men, who often graced courts whenever there were any legal matters to handle.
However, over the years, a crop of very brilliant, astute and business-oriented lawyers have been passed out from several universities around the country.
These are the babes currently running the show in Kampala and today we unveil them;
This one is a Legal Assistant at KSMO Advocates, working with
Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and Young Leader’s Think Tank for Policy. She also works with Sebalu &Lule Co. Advocates and Legal Consultants, plus Public Interest Law Clinic (PILAC). Arinda is in her mid-twenties but she is richer than several lawyers who are older than her.
Tracy Kakongi Nkwanzi
This lady is described by people who know her as a very sharp lawyer who know how to maneuver out of any situation. Nkwanzi is a Legal Assistant at ENSafrica Advocates, although she also liaises with Kirunda & Wasige Advocates.
She is a Legal Officer who is deeply involved in Research and Advocacy, working with Centre for Health, Human Rights and Advocacy.
Labira describes herself as a qualified legal practitioner with a particular focus on Corporate Law and in particular with specific interest in Transaction and Contract related legal practice.
She also works with Semuyaba, Iga & Co. Advocates as a Legal Associate at their offices along Buganda Road.
Labira holds a Masters degree in Law from Aalborg Universitet in France and a Postgraduate Diploma from Law Development Centre (LDC).
This one is a popular lawyer working with Legal Research, a project at the Law Development Centre (LDC), Kampala, and she also has various clients.
She also directly works with Ligomarc Advocates, a prominent law firm in Kampala popularly known for attaching properties of loan defaulters. Zawedde is a law graduate from Uganda Christian University, where she was once the Secretary/Coordinator UCU Law Fellowship/Society.
A graduate of MUK, This elegant lady is as Advocate, Commissioner for Oaths and Notary, with her own law firm called M.Nassali & Company Advocates. A don at Law Development Centre Nassali is very wealthy lawyer, who is into private businesses.
Before starting her own law firm, Nassali was working with Turyakira & Co. Advocates, which she left for
Kalenge, Bwanika, Ssawa and Co. Advocates where she worked as a Legal researcher.
Suzanne Aisia MusooliShe is an advocate at Uganda Christian Lawyers’ Fraternity, with a degree in law from Makerere University.
Aisia is described by pals at her office located at Baptist House in Wandegeya as a ‘deadline freak’.
She always does work within time and stipulates the amount of time she spend with each client, because of her tight schedule.
Susan Aisia Musooli
She is a Legal Officer at Uganda Association of Women Lawyers.
Levi has done legal consultancy with several business entities in Kampala and her shrewdness in courts has enabled her register lots of success. She also works closely with the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
She is not only a prolific lawyer but also a stunning lady who is one of the founding partners at Ligomarc Advocates.
Sebatindira is holds a bachelors degree in law from Makerere University and a Masters degree from the University of Manchester, UK, who is working with the Judicial Service Commission.
Sebatindira’s expertise at law enabled her to be elected President of the Uganda Law Society for the period 2013-2016.
Sheila Braka Musiime
This one is the Chief Counsel at The World Bank.
A graduate of Harvard Law School, Musiime has worked both in America and Uganda. Musiime’s experience has helped her work with the World Bank for over 15 years now. She holds a Masters of Laws from Harvard with a bias to International Law and Legal Studies, with a bachelors degree from Makerere University.
This lady is a dazzling lawyer who is also a lecturer of Laws at one of the universities in Uganda. Kabseke is also a vibrant budding businesswoman in Kampala.
Her Worship Ssali Lule (MBA, ACIM, CIPR) is no longer just a litigator but also the honourable Registrar at International Crimes Division of the High Court of Uganda and Registrar of the Court of Appeal/Constitutional Court; she is also the Registrar in charge of Special Projects at the International Crimes Division.
She is in charge of the first war crimes trial against Thomas Kwoyelo a former LRA commander.
Melissa Kaijuka Mbabazi
She is one of the few Securities Lawyers in Kampala.
Mbabazi holds Master of Laws (LLM) Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center, USA and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University Of Warwick (UK).
This one is a professional lawyer working with Namara, Twenda & Co Advocates. She also works with the Institute of Legal Practice and Development Uganda.
She has vast experience in company law, land law, commercial law, criminal law and property law among others.
She is the Programmes Director, Center for Constitutional Governance at Makerere University.
Bireete is a mother, lawyer, Human Rights and Political activist, businesswoman, among other things.
She is a Programme developer and supervisor, plus being a founding partner at Kamugisha & Co. Advocates.
She is an Assistant lecturer at Makerere University and a qualified lawyer.
Many students at the University are already benefiting from her excellent grasp of the law, yet there are also several law firms swarming her with endless job offers.
This lady is as advocate for Gayaza High School, holding a bachelor of law from MUK, with postgraduate diplomas from LDC–and (Uganda Management Institute (UMI).
She has in the past worked with several firms which include NP Advocates.
Victoria Nakaddu Mujunga
She is a Senior Associate at Sebalu and Lule Advocates, although she also works with the Governance Institute
She is a specialist employment and employee benefits law with a law degree from MUK and was some time back with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation.
She is a legal Associate with VIVO ENERGY (Shell licensee in Africa) East Africa. Watuwa, who also works with Sebalu & Lule Advocates and Legal Consultants not only has the money but also immense experience as a lawyer. She is an expert at Taxation Law, having studied the same at East African School of Taxation.
She is an Associate at Sebalu & Lule Advocates, although some time back she was working with a law firm called Byenkya, Kihika & Co. Advocates. Kansiime is a skilled lawyer who has managed to seal multimillion deals and remained on top of her game.
She is a popular lawyer in town working with Sebalu & Lule Advocates, although she also does stints at the Law Development Centre. She has in the past worked with other law firms amongst them J.B. Byamugisha Advocates, where she was a Legal Assistant.
She is a Senior Associate at KPMG Uganda LLP, and the Chartered Institute of Taxation, UK.
She has vast experience in corporate law and taxation. She holds an Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) from Chartered Institute of Taxation, Postgraduate Diploma in law from LDC, and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from MUK.
She is an expert at Property, Banking, Finance & Employment, working with MMAKS Advocates MMAKS Advocates. Nawaali is actively involved in the preparation of finance documents of several leading financial institutions in Uganda and is an adviser for several international lenders.
Fiona N. Magona
This one specializes in Corporate Advisory, Mergers & Acquisitions and also works with MMAKS Advocates. Magona holds a Masters of laws from the University of Birmingham and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from MUK.
She first worked with Bowman Gilfillan Attorneys as a Senior Associate before joining MMAKS.
She is a Partner, V. Agaba Advocates in Kampala and Legal Consultants and Legal Consultants University of Cambridge. Ninsiima is the queen at Airways House, on Colville Street, where her offices are located.
She is an Advocate with the Islamic University in Uganda. Namakula studied from the same University and graduated with a LLB, before being hired by the institution.
She is a lawyer with Musangala Advocates and Solicitors, in Mukono, although she runs most of her business in Kampala. Nagudi also does a stint of legal work at the Director of public prosecution, where she earns juicy packages.
