Johnson Omollo will be replacing Aggie Asiimwe Konde as the head of the Serena-based TV station after the latter quit for a job in Rwanda.
Konde has been appointed as the new Chief executive officer of Msingi, a Rwandan company which also stretches to Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.
Omollo has been serving as Advertising Head for Africa Broadcasting Uganda Limited (ABUL), which is part of Nation Media Group, to which NTV is affiliated.
A statement issued by Joe Muganda, the Group CEO Nation Media says “Omolo has been with ABUL for over 8 years and has been key to the growth of the business as well as managing multiple projects with development partners and government agencies.”
ChimpLyf understands Konde will be leaving the station on September 8, 2017.
Muganda, in a statement appreciated the role Konde played at the station, listing some of her achievement like broadcasting of the “first ever presidential debate.”
In her tenure, which spans almost half a decade, the NTV also “premiered the Uganda Economic Summit, the TV show, ‘Second Chance’ was remade, and she was also “instrumental in the launch of the first ever female channel Spark TV.”
While serving as managing director, she oversaw the launch of “the first video on demand platform in the region (VDTV) and a number of quality productions that have redefined televised media delivery in Uganda.”
