It’s without a doubt, the second edition of the Kampala Rolex festival is in the corner.
Ahead of the August 20 fete, organizers have started major activations in various city suburbs.
First in line was Kitintale where organizers staged a van and called on masses for a mini-Rolex explosion.
With the aroma of chicken, eggs and chapatti at Kitintale Market, all one could see was the excitement and pride people had in the delicacy.
Speaking to ChimpLyf, Bismarck Amumpaire, one of the festival coordinators said that bringing the festival closer to people makes it more popular and desirable.
“This festival is for Ugandans and we decided to launch it particularly to them, we want them to have a feel of how important it is to love and promote our own products,” He said
He further noted that this culture began with the first edition and was worth beholding in memory of the later former minister of tourism Maria Mutagambwa.
“I remember when we went to Kyengera last year and people didn’t know about the festival, she [the late] called Rolex makers and joined them in their work,” Bismarck narrated.
“She would have loved to see her work going on,” he added.
This festival is mainly to celebrate the food culture in Uganda and has become one of the signature events on the tourism calendar.
